Letting an unproductive mood Take over the rest of the day

From a true confession of someone that engages unprovoked mood to become the basis of their Productivity

For example for many people if their morning did no go well , they felt like throughout the rest of the day

Having this mindset can help solve the above:
The four quarters method refers to the practice of slicing your day into:
  1. Morning (5am -9am)
  2. Late Morning(10am - 1om)
  3. Afternoon (2 PM-7 PM)
  4. Night time (7P.m. Onward)

This rule allows you to see your day in sets of quarters

Dealing with one quarter , if you don’t measure or scale well in your level of productivity, you still have other quarters to try again

By simply using this rule , you have gained how edge over time management by PRE planning your day in sets

This allows you to ease of more control and boost your hopes that it’s not yet over until it’s over

Not being clear on priorities

A wise man once said and quote if a ladder 🪜  is not leaning against the right wall , each and every step only gets to the wrong place faster

— Stephen Covey

There is no better waste of time and energy than working on the wrong things

Warren’s Buffet 5/25 List Exercise:

  • Write ✍️ down 25 goals for your life
  • Circle the top 5
  • The twenty you did not circle are now the top most distractions of the top 5 and you must avoid them until you have finished the top 5
What this teaches is Prioritizing goals helps to achieve it faster and with lesser hard work or energy input

Goals take focus and focus is a observer of time

, by focus on the most worthy goals you apply more strength and investments

More is the beginner of successes

Not putting things in your calendar 📅

A wise man once said :

The calendar is mightier than the todo list ,

Putting things in your calendar , forces you to prioritize task and allot the necessary time and energy to fulfilling your tasks

Rather than aimlessly chipping away at a todo list

Try time blocking:

Block out your  entire day in calendar physical one or a calendar app like Google calendar 📅  and assign tasks to blocks based on priority

At the end of the day, evaluate how well you stuck to it.

Saying Yes too much

There is a saying and I quote ‘The person who wants to please everybody before going to bed will end up depriving themselves of their own sleep’
This means that time alloted must be maximized to your own gain
This however does not mean critical situations especially ones involving family , parents and work
But with Leisure time and other less necessary situations

If you want to have great Opportunities in life you must be willing to say NO to some good ones
  •  Defaulting to no = you have control of your time and life
  • Defaulting to yes = means others control your time

Using this guideline will help you know when yo say yes or no

Would I do this if it was tomorrow morning?

Will the return meet or exceed the time I  invest?

Will saying yes create more opportunities?

Not leveraging Parkinson’s Law

Funny enough the laws name is Parkinson’s 😂

This law states that :

Work expands to fill the time given for its completion

This simply means if you don’t monitor or allot time to task or create deadlines you will be surprised you end up actually using too much time for so little tasks

Basically give your time less time to finish tasks (stuff) and try to avoid distractions

Check 5 Rule can come in handy here

Try using these Artificial deadlines:

  1. Agree to pay a friend if you don’t finish on time
  2. Announce what you are working on publicly
  3. Set a timer ( I do this for every task)
  4. Ask a friend to act as a client who needs the result  s urgently or with urgent needs
  5. Add a penalty if you don’t meet your deadlines that is if you finish by a certain time you desire or think is best for the job at hand
